Riven's gypsy stew.

Bellow is a very tasty sounding recipe I was given it as I stopped by the Gypsy camp.
I must confess I was wondering how those Gypsies seemed to all look so well.
Now I know. I hope like me you will all be giving it a try. If you are in any doubt as to its great taste, just take a walk through the woods and take a good sniff and try to resist heading on into the Gypsy camp.
I imagine it will go down a treat on these cold spring evenings.

Riven's gypsy stew.

If like me you need to feed hordes of starving gypsies and there guests, but have limited resources I find a good one pot stew which you can add to makes a wonderfully filling and tasty solution. For this recipe you will need :-

2 Starch roots per person skins left on but washed
5 good strong onions
1 bunch of carrots
5 large leeks
3 large sprigs of parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
One large hank of meat, now a young woolly grazer is best but what ever you can find will do.
And enough water to cover the mixture.

now in your pot using fat from the beast, cook down your onions and leeks which you have finely chopped. throw in your chopped meat bones and all. Brown this off mixing it in well. Add your largely diced vegetables and herbs cover with enough water to submerge all the ingredients. Place in a lid on it and leave to simmer for a good couple of hour stirring frequently.

Now the joy of this, is the longer you leave it the better it tastes. And if more people arrive throw in more starch roots and water. Once they are soft season and serve with the best loaf from the bakers.
